Disney's Hotel Cheyenne Review Disneyland Paris

The Hotel Cheyenne is a Wild West themed hotel at Disneyland Paris. It is on the cheaper side when it comes to official Disney hotel at the resort, but that doesn't mean it isn't a fantastic place to stay.

I have stayed here twice over the last 18 months and I have been really impressed with the room and facilities on offer for the price. This is my full review of Disney's Hotel Cheyenne at Disneyland Paris.

Hotel Cheyenne Disneyland Paris

Theming

The Hotel Cheyenne is designed to look like the film set for a Wild West film.

The buildings lining either side of the street are labelled as various town services such as the Sheriff's Office, the bank and the lawyer's office. Of course, these buildings actually house hotel rooms, but it is these details which really immerse you in the world of the Wild West at the Hotel Cheyenne.

Each building is also named after a famous figure from Wild West folklore such as Wyatt Earp, Annie Oakley, Sitting Bull and Doc Holliday.

As always at Disneyland Paris, it is the details that make this theming come together so well. Each building is lined with a porch, there are some abandoned wagons in the central square and, inside the buildings, there are even wanted posters.

I think one of the reasons I love the Cheyenne is that the theming ressembles that of Frontierland, which is my favourite land in Disneyland Paris.

I also love the outdoor layout of the hotel. The more expensive hotels at Disneyland Paris are all housed in one main building, whereas the layout of the Cheyenne allows for plenty of outdoor space to explore.

I love walking around the hotel grounds in the afternoon, looking at all the signage on the various buildings. And it is usually very quiet because most people are either taking a break in their room or still at the park.

A few years ago, Toy Story was integrated into the theming at the Hotel Cheyenne. You can find Woody and Jessie atop the beams in the reception area and the rooms are also themed to Toy Story (more on the rooms later).

The Toy Story theme has been fused with the existing Wild West theme perfectly. Most of the resort still retains the original feel but with a little extra added Disney magic.

Location

The Hotel Cheyenne is the second furthest away from the Disney Parks on foot of all the Disneyland Paris hotels. The walk takes 20-25 minutes, depending on which building you are staying in.

Of course, if you don't want to walk, the Hotel Cheyenne offers free bus transportation to the parks. The buses leave from a stop just to the left of the main hotel building approximately every 20 minutes. The bus will drop you off outside Marne-La-Vallée train station, which is just a 5-minute walk to the entrance of the two parks.

I found the buses to be very efficient and reliable on my recent trip. I never waited more than about 10 minutes. Just be aware that the buses don't have many seats, so you may be standing up at busier times. However, the bus ride is less than 5 minutes, so it isn't too much of a problem.

It might be further away from the parks, but I think the Hotel Cheyenne is in a very picturesque and peaceful location.

The hotel backs onto the Río Grande river and there is a lovely riverside walkway leading up to Lake Disney and Disney Village.

The riverside walkway is lined with trees and is beautiful, especially in the autumn. I really enjoy the walk to the parks from the Hotel Cheyenne.

Another advantage of being further away from the parks and Disney Village is that the hotel is generally very quiet. There have been times where I've been exploring in the afternoon and there is no one else about. It is amazing to find this at a Disney resort.

So, if you don't mind a slightly longer walk, or you are going to take the bus anyway, I actually think the location of the Hotel Cheyenne is beautiful.

Hotel Layout

As I mentioned before, the Hotel Cheyenne has more of an outdoor layout than most of the other Disneyland Paris hotels.

The main building houses the reception, concierge desk, the Chuck Wagon buffet restaurant, the Red Garter Saloon bar, the gift shop and the Starbucks location. In other words, the main building is the place to go to speak to a Cast Member and for all your on-site dining.

As you exit out of the front of the hotel, to your left is the Disney shuttle bus stop and the car park and to the right is luggage services. You can leave your bags here on your check in and check out day.

The hotel rooms are dispersed across the rest of the resort on either side of the main building. There are two thinner streets on either side of the main square, each leading to a smaller square at the far edges of the hotel.

All buidlings apart from the main building have hotel rooms. When you check in, the Cast Member will give you a map and circle your building number so you can easily find your building.

There are several side paths that lead to the riverside walkway to get to the parks. The side path which runs between the Billy the Kid and Sitting Bull buildings also has a kids playground, which is designed to look like a fort.

Rooms

The rooms at the Hotel Cheyenne are all Toy Story themed.

There are lots of details to look at which add to the theming, including:

  • a picture of Woody, Jessie and Bullseye
  • Cowboy boot lamp with a Woody lampshade
  • a horseshoe-shaped mirror
  • Toy Story characters on the wallpaper
  • Woody wall lights
  • Cow print throw on the beds
  • Curtains designed to look like Woody's shirt and jeans

All the rooms at the Cheyenne sleep up to four adults and are known as Woody's Roundup Rooms, but there are several different categories to choose from.

The standard room 1 double bed and 1 pull-out sofa bed. The sofa becomes one bed and there is a pull-out section underneath which becomes another bed.

You can also pay to upgrade to a room near the hotel facilities. This means that you will be in one of the rooms next to the main building, so you are very close to the reception and all the dining options.

These upgraded rooms come in two styles. The first is the same as the standard room except you are upgrading the location. The second style of upgraded room has 2 double beds.

All rooms have:

  • Bathroom with a bath/shower combo (shampoo, shower gel, soap and towels are provided)
  • Main cabinet with six medium-sized drawers
  • TV
  • Small storage cupboard with a few hangers and a shelf
  • A small bench built into the wall
  • Safety deposit box, which comes free with the room
  • Heating and air conditioning (although the temperatures have a limited range due to new environment initiatives)

I have stayed in both a standard room and a room with 2 double beds and the comfort level isn't too much different in both. I slept on the sofa section of the pull-out bed and found it to be fairly comfortable and certainly good enough for most adults to sleep on.

I would say that the second section of the pull-out sofa seemed a little more flimsy to me and I'm not sure I would personally be comfortable sleeping on that.

If the upgrade isn't too much, I would personally splurge for the 2 double beds as they are slightly more comfy and then there won't be any arguments about who sleeps on which bed.

It's also a nice perk to know you'll be near the facilities. Not only does this mean a quick walk to breakfast every morning, but it also ensures you're not the furthest room away from the parks, which would add an extra 5-10 minutes to your walk if you choose to walk to the parks.

However, if you are just staying as a couple, I would recommend sticking with the standard room as you will have a lot more floor space in your room if you leave the sofa bed as a sofa.

Speaking of space, the room is quite tight. There isn't too much walking space between the beds and the TV cabinet. To be honest though, when I'm at Disney, I'm only using my room to sleep, so I really don't find this to be an inconvenience.

I really like the rooms at the Cheyenne. Toy Story fans will love the integration of the characters into the décor and the beds are comfy so you should get a good nights sleep.

There is one more important thing to know: the buildings at the Cheyenne DO NOT have lifts.

The rooms are only on two floors, so you'll only be climbing a maximum of one flight of stairs, but make sure to contact the hotel before your trip if you have a disability so that you can be allocated a room on the ground floor.

Dining

One of the things I really like about the Hotel Cheyenne are the on-site dining options. The Disneyland Paris hotels don't tend to offer much when it comes to dining, but the Cheyenne has a buffet restaurant, a café and a bar for guests to enjoy.

Chuck Wagon Café

The dining highlight at the Hotel Cheyenne is the Chuck Wagon Café, an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant open daily for breakfast and dinner.

Breakfast is open from 7am to 11am and costs around €22 for adults (I can't remember the exact price and it isn't available online). If you have booked a meal plan, breakfast at your hotel is included.

I have not had the breakfast at the Chuck Wagon, so I can't comment on the food, but I can tell you how fantastic the evening meal is.

Dinner is from 6pm to 10:30pm at the Chuck Wagon Café and costs €40 for adults and €22 for children. This prices includes one soft drink (coca cola, water etc.) per person. This is actually a really good price for a buffet at Disney.

The food at the Chuck Wagon Café is phenomenal. There's chicken, salmon, beef, stews, chilli, potatoes, vegetables, cheese, soups, salad, pasta and so much more. And the dessert table is massive with a variety of pies, cakes and biscuits.

I am quite a fussy eater and I found so much to enjoy here. You're not going to find anything too adventurous, but all the food is of high quality and tastes really good.

I ate twice at the Chuck Wagon Café on my latest trip and had a completely different meal both times. That is how much there is to choose from.

As the Chuck Wagon Café is a table service restaurant, you will need to book your table in advance through the Disneyland Paris App. Anecdotally, Disney hotel guests are supposed to be able to book their dining reservations 12 months in advance, but I've had varying experiences with this.

I would say just keep a look out every so often on the app and book it when you see it's available for your dates. The restaurant has a lot of seating so there shouldn't be too much of a problem getting a table.

I highly recommend having a meal at the Chuck Wagon Café if you're staying at the Hotel Cheyenne. The food is fantastic and there is so much choice that I'm sure anyone could find several things they would enjoy from the buffet. And, as I said, €40 might seem expensive, but for this much food in Disneyland Paris, it's a bargain.

Starbucks

The Hotel Cheyenne is one of only two hotels at Disneyland Paris that has a Starbucks café on site.

You might be wondering wby I am getting so excited about a Starbucks when there is one on every high street in the UK.

Well, the reason Starbucks is a big perk is that it is a great place to grab a quick breakfast before heading to the parks.

My main complaint with all the hotels at Disneyland Paris is that they don't have quick service restaurants. This means that, in most cases, your only choice for breakfast is the buffet restaurant or waiting until you get to the park.

The Starbucks at the Hotel Cheyenne opens at 7am, which gives you enough to time for a coffee and a pastry before heading to the parks for Extra Magic Hours. They also sell a few sandwiches on sale which could do for a quick lunch or dinner in a pinch.

I also like that Starbucks has been intergrated into the theming of the hotel. The façade of the building is designed to look like the town bank and inside there are little theming details if you look up.

There are a few tables inside and outside the café, but there are just generally plenty of seating areas around the hotel if Starbucks is busy.

As far as the menu goes, it is pretty much the same at the UK Starbucks with a few different pastries on offer. I particularly like the chocolate-covered doughnuts and the cake slices which they don't do in the UK.

It might be just Starbucks, but I think the ability to have a quick breakfast is a big advantage of staying at the Hotel Cheyenne.

Red Garter Saloon

The Red Garter Saloon is the bar at the Hotel Cheyenne. Here you can get hot and cold drinks, including speciality cocktails.

You can even get a few snacks, including a pizza, which is a great option if you're looking for late night dining when you get back from the parks.

The Red Garter Saloon is open from 4pm until late and there is plenty of seating both inside and outside. I actually love sitting outside in summer because you can enjoy your drink with some nice views of the hotel.

Other Hotel Facilities and Useful Information

  • Reception: you can check in at any time of day even though your room is not guaranteed to be ready until 3pm. You can also do mobile check on the Disneyland Paris app up to 7 days before your stay to reduce the time you need to spend at reception when you arrive. Check out is at 11am and is done automatically, so you don't have to go to reception.
  • Magic Pass: your Magic Pass is given to you at check in and is both your room key and your park ticket.
  • General Store: small gift shop with a few souvenirs and snacks.
  • Concierge Service: at the concierge desk, you can check for dining reservations (although I recommend using the app for that) and this is also where you book a taxi when you're leaving.
  • Luggage Storage: you can store luggage on your check in and check out day to make the most of your time in the parks.
  • Free WIFI: free wifi is available in the rooms and common areas. You just have to log in with your email address the first time you connect. I never had any problems connecting throughout my stay.
  • Free parking
  • Laundry: there is a small laundrette on-site, but you do have to pay to use it.
  • Free hot drinks: every night of your stay, each person gets one free hot drink credit to use at the hot drinks machines at the hotel. You can get a few different coffees, tea and hot chocolate. Drinks machines are not available in all buildings so you may need to ask a Cast Member to show you where they are. To redeem the credit, you use your Magic Pass.

Disney Hotel Perks

If you stay at any of the six Disneyland Paris official hotels, you benefit from a number of perks which can help make your stay even better.

Extra Magic Hours

The biggest perk for Disney hotel guests is Extra Magic Hours.

Extra Magic Hours allows you to enter both Disneyland Park and the Walt Disney Studios Park one hour earlier than other guests in the morning.

Not all the rides open during this time, but some of the most popular attractions are usually included. The rides change periodically, but the last time I visited in December, I saw that the following rides were open in Extra Magic Hours at Disneyland Park:

  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Peter Pan's Flight
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast
  • Hyperspace Mountain
  • Phantom Manor (only at the weekend)

Using Extra Magic Hours is my number one tip for avoiding lines at Disneyland Paris. I tend to go to Big Thunder Mountain and I get to ride twice in the hour with a minimal wait on most days. Later on in the day, Big Thunder Mountain tends to have at least an hour-long queue.

Extra Magic Hours is a massive perk for Disney hotel guests. It usually runs from 08:30am to 09:30am, but check the Disneyland Paris app or website for opening times before your trip.

Free Shuttle Bus and Walking Distance to the Parks

When I go to Disney, I don't want to worry about public transport or driving to get to the parks.

All the Disney hotels offer a free shuttle bus to the parks. The buses run approximately every 20 minutes and drop you off outside Marne-La-Vallée train station. This is just a 5-minute walk from the entrance of both parks.

You can also easily walk to the parks. As I mentioned before, the walk from the Cheyenne takes 20-25 minutes by the river and then through Disney Village.

One advantage of walking is that you get to use the dedicated security check point at Lake Disney which is exclusive to Disney hotel guests. This check point opens half an hour before the parks in the morning (so usually 8am) and is generally much quieter than security at the main entrance.

Once you have been through security here, you are good to go straight to the parks.

You Don't Need to Make Park Reservations

A recent park which has come about since the pandemic is that those who book a Hotel + Ticket package through Disneyland Paris don't need to make park reservations.

As a Disney hotel guest, you are automatically allocated a reservation for the parks for all days of your stay, including both your check in and check out day.

Staying in the Disney Bubble

This is just a personal thing, but I like staying in the Disney Bubble throughout my stay.

By the Disney Bubble, I mean that, once you've been dropped off at your hotel, the free shuttle buses and walking paths means that you do not have to leave Disney the entire time you're there.

For me, this is not only convenient as you don't have to worry about transport, but it also means that you're having the 24/7 Disney experience. Even when you've finished your day in the park, you can spend time in Disney Village or go back to your hotel and enjoy the Disney theming there.

Having access to the Disney attention to detail and Disney level of service 24/7 is a big perk of staying at a Disney hotel for me.

My Final Review

I stayed at the Hotel Cheyenne for the first time in November 2021, and it has quickly become my favourite hotel to stay at in Disneyland Paris.

I love the theming, the rooms and the peaceful location. Plus, I think the dining options on-site are great.

Pricing wise, the Hotel Cheyenne is more expensive than the Hotel Santa Fe, but is generally cheaper than the other Disneyland Paris hotels.

To give you an idea of price, a recent trip to the Hotel Cheyenne for two nights in November cost £914 for 4 adults. This price includes the room and park tickets for 3 days.

This is still expensive but, as far as Disney prices go, the Hotel Cheyenne is a great deal. And I honestly don't think you are compromising on much by choosing to stay here over the more expensive resorts.

The only complaint some people might have is the size of the rooms. As I said, this doesn't bother me because I spend most of my time in the parks, but ig you plan to spend more time in the room, this may be a slight disadvantage for you.

Overall, I can't recommend the Hotel Cheyenne enough. Great theming, great location and great food for a relatively low price as far as Disney goes.
